Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Will GE survive this year?

The way things are going (stock price has been steadily nose diving for two months now) and seeing all the layoffs taking place, I'm starting to wonder if General Electric will even manage to survive this year.

Anybody else thinks that GE's final days are much closer to us than we thought they were previously?

Really?? A make in India proposition in this political and economic climate? That will go over like a lead balloon. This global crap with the trade imbalances need to be fixed first. Equal trade before anything else gets shipped overseas. You think like a lazy exec.

I predict GE will rise from the ashes and become a great company again. Just like the mighty Phoenix. Hey, there's an idea! We could rename GE and call it Phoenix Industries!

GE can survive for another couple to 3 yrs, if the do:

  1. sell off the fringe assets and close down GRCs

  2. Sell Healthcare (at least in US and Europe) ; JI will buy out in US into his company(?)

  3. Make the new Loco manufacturing bases at Texas and India work right: Texas should be made "Intelligent India will pump in money as part of the "Make in India" initiative!

GE Aviation (along with GE Additive) will chug along for another 2-3 yrs. claiming order backlogs, new orders and Service & Repair and hopefully someone like Boeing will buy them out - may be they should offer to sell that first to earn the first $30 million they need so badly now!

So @RZH35Hg , how much are you investing in GE stock puts? My guess is $0.00. Just an internet tough guy. Millions of Investors think GE is worth $14, you think it's going to break up... but you don't buy stock puts? You think you are smarter than millions of investors but you don't even have $1000 to buy a stock put. An internet tough guy.

Get real people. GE will survive. It may be smaller and have some of the divisions sold. Even the businesses that are sold will survive. People that got laid off or think they will sprout a lot of doom and gloom. Many are actually hoping they go under because they are upset but it is not going to happen.

You can always quit and go on welfare if you want the misery to end.

GE won't survive in its current form. The company will need to simplify and sell assets. But, there are still too many leaders that got GE into this mess that are still around. Stupid is as stupid does. So expect things to get worse before they get better.
