Remember when we used to actually look forward to Fridays because they are an intro to weekends? I miss those days...
Right now I know that instead of relaxing and finishing one of the five books I've started in the past few months I'll be stressing over my job and wondering if I'll still be employed come next week...
Isn't that really sad, when you think about it?
Company is doing what it needs to do.
The company is chasing the flavor of the month. This has zero to do with anything rational. And no, if you are let go, it's not because of anything you did or didn't do, or how relevant you are. It's because some consultant told a know-nothing CEO what to do THIS MONTH, which may or may not be what they all decide to do next month.
Yeah, we have a lot of irrelevant-skillset people here at State Farm. But this "re-organization" is just as likely to remove a relevant skillset as an irrelevant one, as they guys at the top literally have no idea how to tell the difference.
I plan to ride this thing all the way down until it crashes, burns, and drills a hole all the way to China. Spending every resource I can to eliminate debt between now and the time when I get the "tap on the shoulder". My next career will have nothing to do with insurance.
This all started in the mid-90s. By the the mid2000s the best claims minds were gone. So was the relationship between claims and agency. Ed did this; outside consultants told him to. Tipsy continued it.
Let’s face it. There are a lot of people that should not be here. If you don’t stay relevant, evolve and support changes, you are dragging the business down and it hurts our customers. I may or may not make it. If I don’t, it’s my fault. Company is doing what it needs to do.
Not all of us bought 500k houses or cars every year. State farm did everything to tell us when we hired in we want you to be here for your career.. It had not been since Tipsord took over has any of this changed and we went from 0 - 80 really fast... I could make a sterotyoe about a union worker that works 6 months of the year then sits and collects unemployment the other 1/2... Taking 5 guys to do the job one could do and protrcted by the union when they are useless as 2 tits on a bull.. There are a lot of hard choices foe a lot of people..
Hard to feel sorry for SF employees that bought $500K homes and new cars every other year. They put themselves into their own living paycheck to paycheck box. Why would anyone ever trust their employer? At the end of the day, they owe you absolutely nothing. Learn to stay in control of your own life and destiny.
MAKE YOURSELF RELEVANT and you won’t have anything to worry about. Stop blaming the company and perhaps own up to your own shortcomings. The writing has been on the wall and you chose to sit back and wait for more of the SF Mutual tit to s--- on. YOUR FAULT.
Interviewing this afternoon for a position outside of State Farm. Not letting them decide my path.
Meanwhile Tipsord and his band of hatchet people are trying to figure out if they should get a fancy hotel for the weekend, travel to FL for some sun, or just stay in and have lobster and whatever else rich people do.... They have not a worry in tbeir world other then how to keep count of how many widgets they need to axe this week... I personally am very frustrated in myself that I allowed myself to be so reliant on SF for my livelihood... I was s---ed into the GJ Merchile Dream of we are a family, a food neighbor and those are our core values... We value our loyal employees... I get it, we were all fools, times have changed but I dont think anyone expexted to come so hard and fast. Honestly I am struggling to figure out if this is the place I want to be even if I make it through the fire sale... It probably means moving, but maybe with the goals ans expectations Ive set for myself of where I wanted to be in my career, I should always been closer to more and better opportunities and not of been with complacent that The Good Neighbor will provide...
Its a sad day... There are 100s of ways state farm could gone about their expense management.. Their utter rhetoric of this is all about improving customer serivce, yet we then fire 20 year claims employees simply because they dont live in 4 places to hire people off the street that see this soley as a paycheck... Brilliance at its best!
Exact same stress here! “You’ll be contacted by end of the month and notified if you have a job offer or a severance offer” and you have no control over any of it. I refuse to give them the power over my life, so I’m actively looking.
