Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Hang in there

Thankfully stating to all of you that there is life after Humana stress, ups and downs. Accepted early retirement in nov 2017. Finally healing and beginning to feel human again. I lost all that during my last 2 years as a HAH care manager. Worked there for 6 Years. While it is never a good time to be laid off, good jobs are out there. To all of you the very best wishes. Hang in there, make the right decisions, move forward.

To @UbQN4-1uhr: I took notes during the town hall meeting yesterday. Transitions enrollment has increased but LTIH 4 has been reduced and LTIH 2 is expanding instead. In home care managers and leaders will be affected according to what she said during the meeting.

To everyone who replied to me (terrified HCMRN), thank you for taking the time to offer kindness when you are going through a terrible time as well. I have been blessed to encounter so many huge hearts during my time here, and you all just demonstrated a bit more of that-THANK YOU. My heart has been broken for everyone impacted each time, and that won't change, and for all of us affected this time, I just hold onto the belief that everything happens for a reason. It isn't helping much, haha, but I'm hoping it will. Good luck and positive thoughts to you all. We will be OK no matter what.

Yes, “some but not all” of the CMs will be laid off

Okay maybe i am missing something but are we as CM’s at risk of facing a layoff? I have not heard anything and am getting admissions almost daily. Both transitions and long term.

I love my job and pray that i do not get laid off but this is scaring me. I been doing this for 3 years.

To the RN who feels you are not marketable, you are wrong. You have years of experience in care management and telehealth! There are companies out there that will value and hire you. I’m a HCM RN that’s also been away from the bedside for years, too. Trust me, we’ll be fine. Prayers for all who will be impacted. I’m sure I will be one of them.

Thank you for posting this. I am an HCMRN who is not very marketable being away from the bedside for several years and am nothing short of terrified. I'm on a wonderful team, surrounded by people who excel and build one another up. And while we are all good, I know that I do not compare to the majority of my coworkers because while I meet/exceed metrics, they are machines! And that's OK, those are the people who will be needed and more efficient at managing rosters that will grow after the RIF. And as I sat bawling, I was looking for some glimmer of hope that maybe I'll be OK, and here it is.Thank you.

I agree! I was let go in November. I started looking internally and externally about 2 months before the lay off. By the time Nov. rolled around I had been on several interviews (get practice period for interviewing). Be positive, take the time to improve your interview skills and look for a job that does not seem like work! I am so happy now and pleased that I took the time to really look at what I wanted to do. In the end, I found a job that is so fulfilling, is in better alignment with my career goals, AND pays more! WIN WIN!!! I was a former PHC, with a BSW degree and I am happier now than when I was sitting on my rear doing surveys. I am now REALLY making a difference in the lives I am servicing, providing interventions and education on health conditions, AND touching lives. It feels good to be a Social Worker again in Long Term Care, that is not affiliated with insurance, but rather advocating for the elderly.

ALSO IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT WAIT ON YOUR SEVERANCE BEFORE STARTING YOUR NEW JOB..IT KINDA BUFFER YOUR INCOME AND GIVES YOU A SENSE OF SATISFACTION ON GETTING LAID OFF.... THE CATCH YOU HAVE TO WAIT TO GET SEVERANCE AFTER SERVING OUT YOUR 60 DAY NOTICE AND THAT IS QUITE CHALLENGING TO WAIT THAT LONG FOR ANYONE... THEY GOT SMART THIS TIME WITH TELLING YOU ALL AHEAD OF TIME.. HOPING PEOPLE LEAVE BEFORE SERVING THE 60 DAY NOTICE AND TO CUT BACK ON SEVERANCE. GOOD LUCK

I AGREE...GOT LAID OFF IN NOVEMBER AND HAVE FOUND A GOOD JOB. I WENT THROUGH THE STAGES OF GRIEF AND YOU WILL TOO... SEEK SUPPORT FROM FAMILY AND FRIENDS.. PRAY ......IT WILL BE HARD TO FIND A JOB INTERNALLY ..SPEND THE TIME NOW LOOKING FOR WORK OUTSIDE OF THE COMPANY. BE ENCOURAGE AND KNOW THE FINAL STAGE OF GRIEF IS ACCEPTANCE...THIS TOO WILL PASS.
