Does any1 know if I am involuntarily moved into a new job I do not want can I collect unemployment if I quit? A co-worker says we need to get ourselves fired to collect. That doe not feel right. Then again neither does trying to do a job I did not apply for or I know I do not have the skills to do. Help!

If anyone gets forced into a job they’ve never done and then brought into a meeting with your team manager and section manager, take a quick peak to see if Skype is on your managers computer. If it is, chances are they are trying to get a confession out of you that you did something wrong and they want you to admit it so they have it recorded.DO NOT ADMIT TO ANYTHING. Make their jobs as hard as possible. If you do get fired and fight for unemployment they don’t have anything to back them up. They moved you to a job you didn’t know and you need time to learn it. Spread the word far and wide. Make the f---ers lives as hard as you possibly can. The section manager sitting there is for intimidation. Don’t sweat it. They will also try to do it when you’re not expecting it so be ready.

No, unless you can prove that the employer created an unreasonable situation that made you quit. Under Section 601 of the Illinois Unemployment Insurance Act, an individual who voluntarily quits his or her job without good cause attributable to the employer is ineligible to collect unemployment benefits.
