Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Living through Walmart layoff week...

You know it's coming...

everyone knows its coming, even National news but no one on the inside says a thing

You've confirmed vendor rooms are booked by HR, you saw it two or three weeks ago

You've noticed every closed door meeting

Everyone is quiet

The week of you sit at your desk trying to work but the nagging thought is always there

You check the vendor rooms numerous times a day for any changes

You check layoff.com for updates

You go home and check your byod for meeting planners every 30 minutes

You check it first thing in the morning

You check constantly for something, anything!

Just STOP the madness, get it over with already!!!

And then once it happens we will all be expected to go on as if nothing ever happened. If your left you just keep fighting in the trenches even if the guy next to you takes a bullet in the head. If your dead you'll probably be better off and get a second life outside of Nam. I mean Walmart.

Best to all.

The boat analogy is most appropriate.

Think about it this way. We are on a heavy boat full of people and they are deciding who to throw out the board to a sea full of sharks. If you are lucky, they will provide you a life saver that will last for a while, but you will have to swim to stay afloat afterwards, and you are on your own until you see another boat passing by. If you think this is such a big cruise that they won’t do that, think again. What do you prefer? to be thrown to the water and suddenly try to figure out how to stay afloat, or onboard another vessel under your own terms without even getting wet?

Be patient, you'll be next. WMT is not a good place to work!!!

Get the resume sharpened up and be proactive with expecting to be on this list and ready to move on.

Derby Kansas was notified today of their closing/demise so why wait to be axed. Or, stay and believe in the fairy-tale of "living the dream", sing the silly WMT cheer, put up with working under fear of loosing your job and put up with the corporate slicing and dicing.

Looks like I'm glad I retired when I did

After all is said and done and you managed to remain in the organization, not for one second think that it’s because you are better. I have seen incredibly talented people let go. Some come from good colleges, have all certifications you can imagine, phenomenal experience, great accomplishments and smart. It’s either because you are in a niche, you are cheaper, one year younger, or HR wants you there for the time being to balance out a bit their true targeted groups, and they are not that obvious...but your time will come; make no mistake. At the end of the day, we all will be ex employees, and it is very unlikely that it will be via retiring. So you have two choices: keep doing the cheer and wait for the axe to come, or be proactive and look for better opportunities.

I don't know anyone at WM that feel that they remain because they are better than those lost. I know it could easily be anyone at any level.

Don't have survivors guilt. Know that it can son happen to you too. As previous post said there are other companies

You don't have to go through this.

You are not forced to work for this company.

Get out! Find another job and live life.

The people left behind absolutely act like they are better than the ones let go. I see it in their eyes when they look at me, they avoid me in public, they don't contact me anymore, they avoid my calls and emails. Someday it will be them. Someday they will be the ones cut for the good of the business. I am out of the Walmart bubble and life is better! People in the really world don't give a rat's @ss about walmart except to buy cheap stuff and most would rather go to their HEB, Aldi's, Safeway, Kroger or Publix. Stop talking about survivors remorse. NWAR exists for walmart. If walmart leaves...well, everything collapses.

Actually, Rn4gJjc-viq, I always end up having survivor’s guilt. I’ve seen fantastic people let go and I certainly never think I’m still here because of anything other than being lucky to have not been in the wrong place at the wrong time. I’d imagine most others feel the same.

Don't think layoff can't hit everyone at any performance level. Had "role model" associates laid off because they knew their boss was screwing with numbers and wouldn't go along with it. A boss doing that will go out of their way to silence people who can out them. Sometimes that boss is found out and later sent packing. It's too late for the good people let go, they become unfortunate casualties.

I don’t think anyone believes that any longer. I think are wise to the fact that you could be getting canned for no reason at all. Very sad.

Reality is those who remain think they are somehow better then those who received the axe... a sense of entitlement, as if they are valued more then the other poor soul...
