This is not a bad company to work for, but neither is it one of the best. HSBC does provide adequate training in all aspects of the industry - just not for the position you are hired for. You are pretty much left on your own to be self taught or hope a colleague is kind enough to assist with any questions you may have.
If you happen to have a manager that is communicative and supportive then you are one of the lucky ones. However, most of management will offer you no guidance because they are caught up with their own dilemmas. You are basically left to your own devices with what little training you have gathered.
So it's in essence a sink or swim situation. If you happen upon the first one, well, you are out of luck.
