I’m in late 30’s, grade 28, Optum Operations; after earning mostly 4’s and some 5’s on my review (which is solid performance), I only no raise and no bonus!!!!! WTF!!! I usually get 10% bonus in the past 3 years, and my manager hinted that Norman Wright is going to cut cost soon here at Optum Operathons. I miss the old days with John Prince.

It is eye opening and validates my suspicions. I got my first 3 in I don’t know how many years. Got a raise and bonus, but when talking to an executive about opportunities, she asked “Does that rating make you want to leave?” I thought that was a strange question. I have my resume ready to go and will start exploring over the next year. Not a smart strategy on the company’s part, word will get around and candidates will stay away. I guess all that culture talk is bunk.
Others, including me experienced same. Our director was excited last year to announce this “strategy” to put pressure on people to to more or be terminated. She was giddy about terming people as “terms” could be replaced, without budget approvals. In other words, they can replace you with s couple TDPers for same price. If your in their sights, your likely a target for term or layoff.
get out while you can, this is exactly what happened to me only to be replaced by TDPers later on
Yes it’s a forced distribution of ratings. Managers had little wiggle room and were forced to downgrade ratings even though many poor performers were laid off. Of course this doesn’t apply to leadership. It was UHC as well
it seems that many excellent 4 and 5 resources were unfairly downgraded on their reviews this year, citing that organization performance expectations have changed. Consequently raises were paltry and bonuses were not awarded. Are others in Optum seeing this too?
Good luck on your job hunt! Start today, you now have no reason to remain there.
