There is no straight blue print for the changes coming. All of the job changes and cuts are based upon the stores volume. My store is losing a Hardlines ASM but gaining a softlines ASM. Makes sense with the balance of sales. One universal change does appear to be the backroom team becoming the sales support team and having shoes as part of their job role.

This is all bad when it affects peoples jobs, but the stores are very small in sales volume compared to what they used to be. The payroll anywhere is a % of the total sales or profit at any company. It is not fair by any means but unfortunately what needs to be done if sales are decreasing. It is the same way anywhere within the company.....yes even at corporate too. Each one of our jobs are on the line if we dont figure out a way to stop sales losses and make the company profitable again. That is why I never understand associates saying they refuse to shop at Sears. How silly if you have any desire to have a job at Sears. We all are in sales, and we all need to do whatever we can to help out our company not hurt it or else the cuts will keep coming.
To find out what is going to happen at Sears please ask the Kmart people. We have been doing the simple store concept for around two years now. I have posted many times on this board trying to let Kmart and Sears people know what is coming but everyone always says I am a troll and to quit lying.
Well everytime I have posted within 6 months to a year what I said has come true.
This whole simple store thing is not something they just do and it is over, it is a process to cut management, cut full-timers, get rid of people who have been with the company for many years making over minimum wage, get rid of paying benefits, and consoladate jobs. Along with cutting hours to the bone.
No more shoe leads, no more backroom leads, less ASM's, less AP/LP, no more jewlery leads etc. The plan is to get regular, minimum wage employees to do these jobs. It is trying to run a store with the least amount of people for the least amount of money. Why pay someone a full time salary with benefits to run the shoe department when I can hire some minimum wage kid to put out boxes and straighten up? Why pay an ASM a salary with benefits when I can pay them hourly, take away their benefits and get a minimum wage person to carry a key to open or close.
Please get a clue. If this has not happened at your store it soon will.
All F/T positions will go away soon. How does a company survive on that?
@wwe- Fine jewlery will probably be gone and handled by a regular associate or associates who will get a higher security clearance. The office lead will also be eliminated and the office will be handled by the HR and the cash person.
I am an Operations Manager......... sooooooo..... yeaaaaaa.....
In our Sears store we have a hardlines ASM who covers both BC and HI. We haven't had an OPS ASM in over a year. OPS is handled by the SGM and the sales support lead. In our store the staffing is so thin and nonexistant that the back room team would not be able to handle sales support also. They usually have only one person scheduled at a time. They wouldn't be able to come in early Sunday morning for signing which is what the sales support team does in addition to all the other things we do.
Guess rumors are true! I was scheduled to be off Friday and got asked to come in and be off Saturday. Pretty sure it’s my last day
The whole BC ASM and HI ASM issue is different because many stores do not have this anymore. Odds are they will switch to just one ASM or supervisor depending on sales. Typically is will be based upon performance review who is kept. Used to be seniority but that ship has sailed.
My store was less than 9 million last year. Did not get official confirmation on the F/T positions going away or not. Was not made aware of every single change as not all information was to be released yet.
FJ coordinators are supposedly for stores that do 500 thousand plus in FJ a year.
I heard hardlines asm staying. If there is bc and hi are they becoming one?
What was your annual store sales? Any word on what happens to fine jewelry or office? Are you losing full-timers that aren't managers?
From what is coming there is no Operations anymore. My store did not have supervisors. Hardlines ASM is becoming a supervisor position.
I’m a bc asm are they making bc and hi one asm? If so who keeps job?
Do you have any more detail on the sales support team ?? will the operations manager be managing this team or is the operations position officially Gone . Also I noticed that you said that you are losing your hardlines ASM ?!? Did your store have zone supervisors or are they still salaried ASMs
