Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

104 in Derby, KS

DERBY, Kan. Walmart Tuesday announced plans for a transition that will impact about 104 employees in Derby.

The company says it is closing its service center for Health and Wellness receivables in Derby later this summer and transitioning that work to Bentonville, Ark.

"We made the difficult decision as part of the company's ongoing work to best align resources with our long-term plans," a Walmart spokeswoman says. We care about the associates who will be impacted and will be supporting them through this process."

The spokeswoman says Walmart intends to close the Derby facility in August.

"By giving our associates over six months’ notice our hope is that (they) will find their next career opportunity – either with the company or another company in Kansas," the spokeswoman says

A majority of that facility are long term associates. Giving that much of a heads up is the least they could do. Please note that it’s very hard for older humans to find well paying jobs. This was a facility that mainly dealt with accounts receivables / pharmacy insurance claims

I’m shocked! They even told you.

They like going through the media first. I have to give them credit.
