Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Sterling

As a lowes customer and not an employee I can say Sterling is a dirty word to me. God help me if I ask for a price adjustment or anything complex. That's an hour wait. I once had to ask a Lowes employee to call IT to fix an issue. She told me i had to come back the next day to get a $5 price adjustment. She calls IT and they did everything for her. Good grief...

And when I pickup an online order why can't I give my phone number any more? Lowes used to advertise that if you got a mylowes card when you picked up an online order all you had to do is give your phone number. That seems to have disappeared. Now I am expected to memorize a 20 digit order number or they wont help me. One CSR demanded I write it on a piece of paper for her, I couldnt just read it to her.

It seems Lowe's is trying very hard to be the next Sears. They are becoming less and less consumer friendly.

Why no phone numbers....scammers would order something expensive, send a 2nd person to pics it up (they have the phone number) they take it home,

!st person shows up, original buyer...and is told "you picked it up already" Security tape shows they did not pickup yet.

Now you have to give out another same item.

This happened 2,3,4 times a day for MONTHS!!! until it was stopped.

I remember these Idiots lost 2 zero turn mowers and one SOS 2500.00 tool box before 11am.

one day!

It could have been Lowe’s. But of course the Nibster thinks he can just hire people in India to do the work for pennies on the dollar. I wonder if he hires laborers for his house in the Home Depot parking lot. You get what you pay for Bob.

Sterling is a joke. It was basically a defunct program that has be abonded by AT&T cause they couldn't make it work the 21st century rapid ecommerce environment but some freak thing happened and IBM purchased it from them for a billion dollars. they only have about 18000 customers world wide using it and has history clearly shows, IBM isn't very nimble of a company and just like Lowe's is stuck in the 80's with software / hardware technology. Sterling developments haven't happened much since it was purchased in 2010 so it's already 7 years out of date and was never intended to be B2C as it was built as B2B middleware platform.

Heck just look at how nothing functions correctly when running sterling on a workstation and look at our B2C website. Total garbage.

Lowe's could have had they new hire Digital Content Officer, Bob from India, what was hyped to be a big wig from amazon build a better website and customer experience using WordPress or Magento Commerce.

You don't see an major retailer using Sterling Commerce other then Lowe's. stupid.. just stupid.

All I ever need Sterling for is to find an order and it's so complicated to find it via item #. If I want to find who purchased this item I can't. I need Phone number and all sorts of identification but what if you have NONE. Well you are screwed..

We don't like Sterling either. It was forced upon us without our input. We thought that nothing could be worse that Genesis, our current system, but we were wrong. The cashier that work on the front end are frazzled especially those at customer service. More and more and more and more keeps getting added on to our daily expectation for work. It's always just one more thing.

You are not alone in your dislike of Sterling, other customers and all of us dislike it as well. Simple tasks like picking up an order are buried deep down in the system while other, less frequently done tasks, are at the top of the menus.

Lowe's preaches customer service; but in reality it's all about pressuring customers in to signing up for a Lowe's credit card, pushing the Lowe's protection plans (warranties), and making sure you rate us a 7 on the receipt survey. We don't like doing these things but we are told it is a condition of our employment and if we don't we can/will be fired.
