We are constantly barraged with news of how great the economy is doing and how many jobs there are, but there's just one problem.
The jobless rate uses very sneaky tactics to arrive at its percentage, such as no longer counting unemployed people after around 3 months, on the assumption that "they must not want to find a job" and so they are counted as employed or not unemployed. Yes, this is true, Google it. Tens of millions of Americans never recovered from 2008 and are on food stamps or worse, another fact you can Google.
And here's the REAL unemployment rate, called the "Labor participation rate" which is a much more honest measure and tracks the % of working age americans who are in fact working.

Here's what happens to these people and will in all likelihood happen to your peers who got laid off. They are forgotten, left for dead and ignored in order to prop up the "Everything is awesome!" narrative.
