Thread regarding ITT Educational Services Inc. layoffs

I negotiated a settlement with Navient on our private loans.

Well, I did it. I negotiated a settlement with Navient on our private loans. My goal was 20%. I negotiated 28%. We owe 30k. And we settled at 8500. We stopped payments in March of 2017. It was hard, because they tried different tactics. At one point offering me an option that went backwards from their original offer.

They started at 12k saying it was the lowest they would go, a month ago. But i started at 7k 2 days ago. I was having morning sickness after halfway through. And just to remind everyone who says you shouldn't pay them anything, I agree.

However, we want a home, and we are not willing to wait out 6 years for it to fall off the credit report. We are having our 4th and last baby next week.

Good riddance, Navient! I just want them out of my life!

I stopped paying in March of 2017, planned on having having settlement money as soon as I filed taxes in January.

Crossed my fingers things would lead that way.
