For those of you that believe “They are only getting rid of the poor performers....I work hard for my paycheck every two weeks....my job is too valuable...my bosses boss needs me.....no one understands my position but me.... I’ll am a valued performer...those that are let go, needed let go a long time ago....it’s not personal, it’s only business....etc.). Keep on Sippin’ the Blue Kool-Aid that is poured for you and I guarantee you that after your gone there will be someone saying the exact same thing.....ABOUT YOU!!. It’s never personal untill it happens to you.....Think about what you will say to your kid when lil’ Johnny or Susi come home and tell you “My friends Mommy and Daddy said that Walmart is just getting rid of all the lazy and useless people that don’t work......How will you explain to your kid that YOU got layed off???? Was your job not valuable? Were you lazy? All you self-righteous individuals that think “It will never happen to me”......guess what....it will, just keep Sippin’ your Blue Kool-Aid and wait.....

Eventually all will be gone quickly because they are forcing the bell curve regarding performance evaluations. In other words there are always bottom performers and over achievers. So that means instead of actually receiving the score that is warranted by objective performance it’s even a more subjective approach and associates will be force ranked which skews the results to personal opinion versus the facts. Eventually all the people who helped build the company will be gone. Leaderships goal is to put their stamp on some component of strategy whether that be a company purchase or a reorgination to increase profits.Actually if the Profit & Loss statement had been managed there would have been no layoffs, no store closings, no consultants etc. it’s sad that leadership is buying whatever is thrown their way. It’s embarrassing.
Wow great insights indeed. Whole heartedly agree… I’ve seen theses exact scenarios happen numerous times… wake up people! Plan your exit strategy now… and don’t share much with consultants b/c they repackage your analysis & make it their own when they present to leadership. It’s sickening how much consultants are paid … some $70K a month. Some much much more. Sam went to associates for ideas on improving the company not consultants who have suposidly learned the culture in their MBA classes, and I know what they teach b/c I’ve got my M B A. I’m so disappointed in leadership and shareholders and board members for not speaking up.
It's sad but the consultants that are earwigs...listening then reporting in order to gain favor will ultimately get the boot one day. Why you ask?......because they will have run the company in the ground....by bleeding it of its talent...leaving those with no retail skills wondering "What Happened". It will make for a great case study in a collegiate program just like the demise of Kmart...Sears...Blockbuster...Woolworth...Montgomery Ward...etc.
