If MD had the Midas touch like he did in the 90s the company would be showing sign if improvement. His leadership is now like that of the captain of the Titanic, plugging holes doing 180 with going public. Remember the dog and pony show why going private was the answer. Now he wants to either spin off parts of Dell and/or merge with another company or do another 180. How is that for leadership and vision? If you believe his vision then I have some ocean front property in Arizona I can give you a real good deal. :-)

VMWare can't save Dell, when it's got this millstone tied around its ankles.

"As of the third quarter, Dell was carrying approximately $46 billion in debt, and the tax changes — which shift the deductibility of interest from full deduction of interest expenses to a cap of 30 percent of EBITDA — are estimated to add $200 million in tax expenses for the Palo Alto-based company, according to KeyBanc."

It's like trying to save someone from drowning, when they won't let go of a bowling ball. There's only so much you can do. Like... let go.

Dell has to pay an interest of $2 billion every year. That's the golden sword on his head with a declining market share. The writing is on the wall. Dell is doomed.

Sinking ship has been for a long time, and that includes the EMC storage offering, why would I need to invest in large amounts of storage with the Cloud offerings from Amazon and Microsoft.

The market is shrinking and with a lack of leadership, morale that has tanked, this is very much heading to a situation of will the last person out please turn off the lights.
