Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

Severance question?

Does anybody knows here if somebody who was laid off by Chesapeake manages to find a new job before the 60 days notice period is over, do they still get their severance or are they not eligible for it anymore?

Been trying to find that info all around but I've had no luck, so I'd be grateful if somebody hear knew and shared.

Not sure what “yes”is answered in the page, but for those for you wondering, you do not lose severance. You are encouraged to find a job ASAP but you still get paid through April 2 in regular paychecks plus severance after that. Not sure why the company did the 60day period. Based on my internet research probably didn’t want to have a WARN issue even though numbers don’t see high enough for that to come into play.

My ex was there during the last layoff. We asked that same question. And to answer yours, NO. You will NOT loose your severance. You get it all no matter if you get a job in 30 days like my ex did. Btw their career counselors are really good and helped him a ton. And he found a better job paying way more than CHK. He’s so happy he got laid-off from there. That place was the worst!!!!

Read the Frequently asked questions on the career transition page. The answer is yes.
