I thought you were protected by FMLA- can you be out on FMLA and workers comp at same time?
Our ASM person who is out on work related injury,has been replaced and will probably get a demotion when they return

Usually, they will take you back but with less pay or a lower paying position.
Also depending on the state it may be longer an they only have to guarantee you a position not your original one
"FMLA" guarantees an employee up to 12 workweeks of unpaid leave each year with no threat of job loss... it does not guarantee, however, that you come back to the same job.
