Yeah, right!

The only time I see MS is when she is stuffing her face or flaunting another wine tasting trip.

Would you trust someone who constantly moves their BF around to save him from layoffs, even though his roles and contributions are always a mystery just because she's the VP of HR ? Just follow where he goes so you know which depts are safe.

Niave question OP. HR exists to protect the company, mainly from you (i.e. employees). Those harassment training videos make it look like they're on your side, but the training videos are forced on us TO PROTECT THE COMPANY. If you ever think you have a legitimate work issue, go to a lawyer. Going to HR is a huge mistake.

I knew an engineer who was fired a while back. He had some believable problems with his supervisor and the director above him. So he went to HR. After several meetings just between him and the very understanding HR lady, his supervisors had more ammunition to support his dismissal. Provided by the engineer himself to the HR rep who he was convinced was on his side and going to help him.

That said, there are some fairly attractive hotties in HR, so it might be nice to have some private one-on-one meetings. Just don't say anything incriminating. A "Damn you look hot in that tight skirt" comment is perfectly acceptable. "I leave work early two days per week to care for my dying wife" is NOT what you want to be saying.

Not only NO but HELL NO. They work for Managers and above. If they don't do what the dept they represent asks them to do they are moved to another dept or canned and HR-ER know this so they're scared to do anything against your dept's wishes. If you tell them anything expecting it to be confidential it won't be - they'll tell management above you. QC HR-ER is a joke.
