Thread regarding Toys "R" Us layoffs

Looks like we might be bringing more down with us

An analyst from Jefferies estimates that 10 to 15 percent of Toys R Us' total business will be lost if it liquidates.

Toy companies such as Hasbro and Mattel have already begun preparing contingency plans in the event that Toys R Us initiated a full liquidation.

Toys have lost relevance in the face of streaming entertainment. Kids don’t buy toys anymore they watch other kids play with toys on YouTube. Movies no longer sell toys. Learning via tablet is killing the learning toy sector.

Toy companies will survive but they’ll need to reduce the variety of product. Nobody has the footprint to present hundreds of SKUs anymore.
