Thread regarding Devon Energy Corp. layoffs

Is the number really 300?

Anybody here scared that the final number will be higher than 300?

It wouldn't be the first time that the official number and what actually happens do not match.

I think they usually report lower numbers to soften the blow, not cause too much panic and of course don't get caught in too bad media mess.

I hope I'm wrong on this...

300 now, but the fun will come in them stingifying the severance plan after this cut and then hanging another 300 layoffs over everyone's heads for the next 3 years.

Everyone knows it can't go over 300. That is a perfect score in bowling.

Last layoff target, 1000. Perfect batting average. I see a trend developing.

It'll be right for this round. Once they sell more and the g&a: production ratio goes back to sh-- they'll layoff more.

We were told 500 employees AND contractors. However, people have been involuntarily exiting the company in different departments over the past few months. And it's no secret that Devon is shopping a couple of the business units. Devon will be a much smaller company by the end of 2018... if it's still named Devon. We need to s--- it up and lease some of the office space in this tower. We still have multiple floors completely closed from 2016 and others only have 10 or so people on them.

they were pretty correct on the number in 2016, I think they reported it would be 1000 and it was close to it
