Huge Layoff at NJRC today

I’m from NJRC and lucky to have stayed. I however saw around 90+ people get notices today. Very sad. We, the people who remain behind don’t know what’s in store for us and are also worried.

The management here completely s---s and has no foresight. If one project didn’t work then they should have been forward thinking about getting a new one. Everyone feels that. Instead they dwelled on their only large existing project which simply hadn’t no future. They could have built relationships with San Diego however they weren’t successful in that either. Only short term thinking got us where we are.

Another interesting thing was many Principal and above stayed. How ?

I thought majority to let go was principal and above. Clearly someone somewhere rigged it.

Best wishes to my friends who didn’t make it. Don’t worry, your management was incompetent and simply bad. Nothing that you could have done.

The only thing NJRC worked on was improving and following the process.

What was the breakdown in HW and SW?

NJ has been a slow motion train wreck since at least 2013/2014. You guys all know it but are too comfortable to move on or do something about it. Lots of you haven't even updated your resume in over a decade or even gone on an interview.

For those 90 or so people, there is life after QFT and once you get there you will realize how many years you wasted there in cruise control mode while EK, NK, VA, etc ran this place into the ground.

Would suggest all folks the survived to look at finding the right fit and move on unless you are really ready to retire after you get the pink slip.

NJRC is a disaster and those let go are lucky. This place is destined to fail. They booted people who were on secure projects to save some of their boot lickers. And they now expect those who were booted to train their incompetent replacements? Good luck. The small cells team and their management have no clue what they are doing. They have $14 million annual budget and plan support 4G and 5G in it. The 5G small cell is a rip off from a UE based platform. Completely useless. I hope some customers of their failing 4G SC are reading this. Stay away from Qualcomm SC. There are no people to support you.

All teams not equally affected at NJ.

Supposedly it was to do with what charge code a person was charging to. If you were charging to the SC project your luck supposedly ran out.

The site lead and the guy below him both absolutely incompetent. Being just technical isn’t good enough. These folks have zero business acumen. The layoff that just happened here is living proof of NJRC’s management abilities. Completely useless and hopeless folks. Hope VA and TR are reading this.

A fish rots from the head down, and QC demonstrates that. All cuts should be at the Dir. level and above, include ALL H1B's, and the 'executive' team, aka, the clown car.
