Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

Layoffs

I just took a job with South this year and everyone is talking about layoffs? Why? Any reliable information would help.

Admissions leadership is extremely bloated. Teams are overloaded as well. Got an email from the new person in charge of admissions today. Might take a week or two, but something will happen.

Are they filing with the state re: WARN?

Admissions layoffs are coming tomorrow. Organizational realignment is cutting people down and trimming the fat. What directors or managers will go? Academics has zero leadership right now. I'd imagine they view admissions leadership as bloated as well.

Fridays tend to be another layoff day. Makes it easy when you complete a pay period, less issues with partial pays etc.

If more are coming it will be tomorrow. If you dont get laid off tomorrow youre likely ok for at least another quarter.

There were layoffs within Finance too and it’s very hush hush. I can say that the feel of the campus is different. I feel like the managers are walking on eggshells and being very quiet. They are not too concerned about the starts either! Hell I don’t know who they are going to fire cause a lot of our workers quite already.

When are campus and admissions layoffs?

Severance given to yesterday's leadership layoff is 1 week per year of service. Told not to speak about it and let them announce it. Yet no announcement has been made? Probably waiting until the campus and admissions layoffs happen first.

IT in Robinson, AIO in the Strip, CS Marketing, AUO in the Strip... number of employees laid off from each area just this week. Two weeks ago all jobs with IT Help Desk in Pittsburgh were relocate to Phoenix. No announcements were made. Things are very hush hush. Wondering if DCEH is making laid off employees keep silent or no severance. Wonder if they are getting severance at all.

If only The Dream Center AKA the new father of Education Management Corporation, AKA The Art Institutes, could find a way to make money from the opioid epidemic. Whoops, looks like they already did. Now they can get you an eduction too! All with “free” money and volunteers. You can bet that the top management are not volunteers. Thank you Jesus, AKA federal tax dollars.

What would Jesus do? Apparently he would trick people looking for a job into signing up for an education that will build swimming pools for upper management and leave the students with massive debt. Praise the Lord and f**k the meek. We will inherit their student loans.

"Professional, courteous, hardworking...destroying the company culture."

I would prefer to call them obsequious, enabling and deceptive.

The excuse of "I was just following orders" was and is the favorite one-liner of the mindless compartmentalizing groups of amoralists down through history. But despite this sorry excuse, in the end, it was never sufficient enough to save them from the noose.

A couple of the most professional, courteous, and hardworking managers were let go yesterday at Argosy. If this is the way of moving the brands forward, DCEH may end up destroying the company culture and incentive of the decent employees.

There will definitely be changes coming in FY19. We have all gotten emails from the COO talking about the new corporate structure. It's just a matter of weeks before that trickles down to the campuses.

Argosy didn't lose any managers today. Stop with the BS

Unless I misunderstand you, South does have issues with "that type of thing."

South online is a wire fraud scheme with a 3% graduation rate, a little better or worse over several years

It's just that type of thing that exposes the continued scam.

It's just that type of data that tells the tale.

Sorry that you got conned to work there. The same way they con students. Leave while you still can and don’t add it to your resume. Chalk it up as a learning experience.

South have no issues with that type of thing.

Argosy in Pittsburgh “lost” some managers today.

South and the other DCEH abominations also known as Son of EDMC are not schools of higher education. They are elaborate schemes to float loans to the unsuspecting who they say they are trying to help.

Make no mistake, they continue to perpetrate a con game. This has been historically evidenced as per College Scorecard by almost non-existent graduation and retention rates across the board.

They are ultimately a sad pathetic group of folks who now use and defame the name

of Jesus to perpetrate their nefarious ends.

The day this whole mess folds will be a good one indeed.

Tis the season. Layoffs happen between now and June 30th every year as it's the end of the fiscal year.

There have been layoffs every day this week in Pittsburgh. Rumor is that all three systems will get cut, but no word on how many.
