Thread regarding Chicago Bridge & Iron layoffs

Look for new jobs

New management has already told us to look for jobs. Think about it. MDR already has a 3 year head start on how to work lean.

Cbi has layers and layers Of engineering fat. Multiple layers of managers, directors, VPs and then everything gets check and corrected in India now.

Shame - used to be a good company when we were happy winning $500MM jobs and less jobs.

Some really good people still left but mdr will need to check everyone’s work experience

CBI Construction destroyed and threatens the company rapidly in my opinion. I have been in industry in multiple companies for many, many years and multiple projects. CBI had no cohesiveness, procedures, leadership. Hire random people from the outside, offer unlimited overtime, dont regulate, blame others, ignore cost and add schedule. What could go wrong? Ask how Keiwit does it for one.

I am sure many are good, but such rookie mistakes made over and over destroyed potentially profitable jobs. This lapse of management destroyed thousands of jobs. I have a better job after quitting because of BS, but many probably don't. I don't want to rant, but the CBI Company never wants to address lessons learned.

I have heard about problems with Netpower and Calpine in PA but reports say they are OK.

Most of us are looking for jobs. No need to say that the market is picking up very slow. This will be ghost town when market gathers more steam.

Lummus and Shaw used to be good companies until CB&I Construction tried act smarter than everybody else, eventually taking the whole company down for their stupidities. I hope that MDR will rein in the rouges in CB&I’s Construction sooner than later.
