Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Mileniums run

If you are a recent graduate run from IBM, it will not be a good experience.

There will be no training, your peers will be over-worked, the client knows that IBM is over-charging for your services and the environment is toxic and sterile.

After many years in the company I have realized that most of the good professionals have left the company and have found better places to work.

"It's a foregone conclusion that this shakeup is going to happen mid-2018 when Ginni turns 60." ...... Ginni turned 60 last year though?

If you're a recent Grad, employed at IBM, you've probably learned a lot of "WHAT NOT TO DO" in an organization. Make a list of you're assignment accomplishments, update you're resume and get the heck out of this company. If I was starting out, I would ONLY consider IBM after new C-Level Executives and new Board members were in place for a period of time to convey their future strategies. It's a foregone conclusion that this shakeup is going to happen mid-2018 when Ginni turns 60.

Not exactly many friends left, but since you are heads down in your project, when I started looking for folks or for some experienced help, I realized almost none were available.

I work with LOTS of great folks still left at IBM, and we're all being asked to do more with less. As -1qn said, they're just not in Armonk. If you're a recent grad and want to get a foot in the door, and IBM is the only viable option, do it, but have an exit strategy or short-term plan.
