Thread regarding Devon Energy Corp. layoffs

Managers writing their own tickets

Is it true that middle and upper management get to write, negotiate, and review their severance packages weeks before layoffs? My manager told me he had at least two jam sessions after hours with some of his peers so they could get on the same page. WTF. Can anyone confirm this?

Never feel sorry when you see unit superintendents or vps suddenly announce "retirement". They are in a different world. I wish someone like Exxon would do a hostile takeover and boot some VPs out.

A lot of your Sr level management and exec level positions have pre-negotiated exit plan (Golden Parachutes) in place as a part of their offer to come work. Some have 3 year salary guarantees

All depends on who you drink, golf or s--- up to.

I’ve heard something very similar. Several folks made out on their own terms and negotiated a very good exit. I just simply don’t understand it. We’ve known for some time that if you’re upper management you’re treated entirely different.
