Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Do royalty changes affect Apple?

I don't think so. Qualcomm has disclosed that the Apple contract manufacturers like Foxconn pay the royalty on the iPhone. If Foxconn pays a royalty based on the price at which they sell the phone to Apple then these changes do little if anything to help appease Apple.

I think I remember an analyst estimating iPhone royalty at $10 to $12 per device. One way to get there is 2.5% x 400 to $480. So does the latest change impact Apple?

Wow, so since Apple is already pissed off let's make everyone else feel better so we don't have a complete revolt!

It's probably that Qualcomm would be embarrassed to tell it's customers that Apple had a way better deal than they did so maybe these changes help everyone else get to a more like Apple royalty?
