Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Relocation claw back for voluntary resignation

Anyone have experience with this? GE is seeking remuneration since I left after 18 months but the contract isn't explicit in timing ('12 months of the expiration date of my relocation' which I interpreted as last disbursement date). I've never heard of GE chasing relocation $$ ... but this a new GE.

Happened to me. Don’t pay it back, you don’t have to. I was reorg’d 3 months after being hired into a significantly different position than the one I accepted, then quit last month. They tried to put it on my credit report, but relented when I got an attorney. He told them to go pound sand. Thanks for the 30 grand punks!! Hahaha!

Must be getting desperate. I worked in various Finance roles in a couple different GE businesses and over that 12 years or so, there were a few instances on the large relo packages where HR was questioned on the ability to recoup, after somebody left prior to technically fulfilling their time requirement. HR did not want to pursue any of those examples, some of which were well over $100K.

Tell them to stick it in their a$$. When Jeff I-melt pay's the company back for years of shi++y performance, they can come for the rest of us!!!

You can claim your relocation benefits up to a year after your hire date. Therefore 1 year from your hire date would be the expiration date. So you would have needed to stay for a total of 24 months. I'm afraid you will owe them money. However, the contract does not explicitly say a time frame for which you need to pay it back within so tell them you will pay it back over the next 30 years.if they complain, tell them to take you to court over the payback period.
