Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Underworked and over paid

Bout time this happened. The attitude in this town of people high and mighty may taper off. I sure hope so. Sorry for the onea who are getting canned but are you really that surprised? In my blue collar opinion, your services to humanity are short lived and you are way overpaid. Coddled like little children even. Massive bonuses every year, trips to fancy places. For what? What is your REAL contribution to society for such a fancy reward you all recieve? And you are surprised this is happening. Some people in the nursing field get paid less than you do and they save lives for a living. Reality check for many. You arent as important as you once thought you were. God speed to you

Random comment here......speaking of foreclosures, bankruptcies and divorices, i would say this is a great time to take a stroll through the pawn shops in town. People in desperation tend to cave and sell their valuables at an exaggerated discount. Just an fyi to anyone in the market for anything of value. Should be some nice jewelry at the pawn shops here in the next several months. Keep an eye out if thats your thing.

Hey OP, I have a brother like you. Union carpenter in Mo. Makes a good living. Still jealous that I don't have to break my back to do somewhat better. He had the same opportunities I had. Same ones you had. I worked to put myself through college to get a degree so I didn't have to rely on physical labor to earn a living. Maybe your jealousy of others is your own self-loathing for not working harder when you were younger?

PS: I don't take fancy trips, unless I earn them (ie. CPCU) and the wife is a nurse so, you really do have issues, my friend. Seek help.

I actually used to work at state farm and waked out and took a substancial pay cut. The friends that i keep in contact with say the only reason why they didmt follow me out was due to the money. Luckily i had enough of a nest egg to bite the bullet for a while.....but i was happier. I couldnt stand the cut throat environment and utter fakeness of most people there. It was much like what i remember high school was like. Very clique like. I agree with what the author is trying to get across, although they could have been a bit more sensitive to the issue. But thats life. People are insensitive at times. Especially conservatives. But for some reason i bet this was written by a blue collar liberal union worker. Wild guess. Not tjats theres anything wrong with being blue collar, a liberal or a union worker, it just sounds as such

Awwww look at the troll who wishes they could work at the farm but are either not skilled or too stupid, so they lash at at what they can't have.

Underworked and Overpaid? Try getting out of your mom's basement and get a real job sometime. But maybe your taxpayer funded government checks only go so far. I won't judge.

What you are going thrpugh has happened to me. I have been there already. I too thought i was on the top of the world until that fateful day when several hundred got the notice. It was crushing. All im saying is i hope you are ready for what you are in for. You learn quite a bit about life when yours gets turned upside down. And a high paying job went from #1 to about #5 on the list of what was really important to me. Happy trails good people. Wear a life vest because i see rough currents ahead for alot of you

I had nothing given to me. I was raised by a single mother who worked two jobs (one at SF) to make sure I had toys on my birthday. I’m not a recipient of nepotism (though FAR too many here are). I have grad school debt equal to a really nice car payment and as a result drive a really crappy car. I didn’t mean to make this a b--ch fest but just can’t stand the mocking of sf employees at this time.

Wow! And to “underworked and overpaid” .. what contribution do you make to society other than hate and disrespect?? Walk a mile in my shoes and then judge. May you reap what you sow...

I have had alot of interaction with many state farmers over the years. My general observation is the only thing they really learned in college is how to bs eachother on the golf course and be inconsiderste to the working class. Congrats on your masters degree. Im sure you are very proud of yourself, as you should be. A masters is not easy to attain. Neither is the undeserved amount on your paycheck. But i guess everything in life is just a matter of perspective now isnt it? A college degree does not mesure intelligence. It just measures what opportunities were presented to you at the time of your college career. Step on down off that high horse before you make like Christopher Reeves (the guy who played the original superman) and hurt yourself

Not all that work at State Farm have a degree. Some are making just enough or less to get by on. The attitude that everyone working at SF is making a lot of money, is ridiculous. Without a degree it is very difficult to move up and get a promotion. Some have been in the same job for many years because they can't go anywhere else in the company. The benefits was what SF had going for it that other companies didn't offer. Now those have been taken away because of the people that abused them. Instead of managing the ones that need it, they punish everyone. Use to be SF was THE place to work. Not anymore. Now it is not any different than any other company. I don't think this is what G.J. Mercherle had in mind.

What else would you call it? What’s your motivation? You’re either jealous (sub-consciously maybe) or an a--hole.

It’s so sad to see the bitterness and jealousy that is posted by people like OP.

Shame on me for getting a masters degree and working hard day in and out so I could get a white collar job.
