If you are paying your president of the union to sit in an office all day, that is a mistake. The president needs to actually work the floor like the rest of the employees do. That way they have skin in the game and everything directly affects them also. Works very well this way.

Avon N.Y. Plant is Union Still hasn't helped employees with job cuts. I FEEL THE UNION SHOULD BE ABLE TO TELL COMPANY TO CUT SOME WHIYE COLLARS FIRST.DO NOT UNIONISE IN MY OPINION IT'S NOT WORTH PAYING THE UNION DUES FOR THE COMPANY JUST TO DO WHAT EVER THEY WANT ANYWAY.

Supervisor and upper management have to go by the contract. No favoritism. Over time and job bids are strictly by seniority. I love it!

Pluses and minuses on unions depend on individual situations. It is more difficult for management to perform corrective actions on us. For employees with seniority it is much better as they have first dibs on all assignments and hours.

Is there an election scheduled at Champaign already? Or is the campaign just getting started?
