Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Legal Options - Employment Law

If you are departing and you feel you’ve been wronged during the upcoming Qualcomm layoffs, do not sign any docs – this will keep your legal options open.

Pursuing the legal option may cost money, so be smart and calculated no matter what you decide to do – this will not be for everyone and some of us may opt just to accept the fate no matter if we are right or wrong.

A cost conscious option may be exploring your options with the EEOC. You do not need a lawyer. You can fill out the paperwork yourself… You need to have a valid complaint of course (e.g., age discrimination)

What if I am 54? Is it still settlement majority of the time? Can you provide a table with age in the x column and probability of success in the y column? Can you share the DNN to calculate such probability more generically on github? I am a senior director. I can collect status and give you good shareit review. We pay top dollar for this kind of work in the Q!!

Sue them if you're older than 55. Majority of the time, business will settle with you. Hence a better deal for you and your lawyer.

Good to know. I am not taking the legal route, I am moving on on my own. Good luck all.

For people past a certain age in this business, just moving on can be much harder. If the company happens to discriminate against this group then real damages are incurred and legal action seems perfectly reasonable. Remember, the company is choosing what to do and how to compensate people affected. They can just do the right thing from the start and there will be no problems.
