Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

In case you are among those laid off or fired

If you are fired by SF you may have the right to request documentation on the age ranges of other people who were also let go. You have 180 days to file with the EEOC if you at that time believe you were descriminated against based on your age.

Have outside work contact info

Keep the names of everyone you see getting the walk out that you believe was fired due to age. SF has no group for only one discriminated class, people over 40.

While there is likely no overt direction to can older people from leadership it doesn't mean it's not happening. Even if you sign some release you can still consult a lawyer with that document in hand especially if you learn new information about why you were terminated. State Farm is a great company and some times they need external correction on business practices.

"sometimes they need external correction on business practices...

With corporate lawyers a plenty in house they sure seem to need corrections quite a bit. Now more than ever this is happening more frequently. Not sure if this is due to more information being available, or too much of leadership trying to skirt laws. Claims are challenged more often now as well.

Perhaps doing what was right all those years ago was what made the company great. And making the company wealthier now means not always doing what is right. Employees and customers and vendors always spoke quite highly of State Farm. Nowadays almost nobody has anything good to say about State Farm. If that is what success is, then I guess they have become quite successful?

As a youngster I remember neighbors that worked and retired with State Farm. It was common knowledge to everyone (In BLM/NRML anyway) that State Farm took care of its employee's. Now I agree that there is need for restructure and re-organizing. But the way they are going about it especially with regards to the older folks at best appears unethical. And having to deal with metrics at the company I work for I can honestly say might be the first step in destroying said company. Everything cannot and will not run like an assembly line in a factory. Insurance has unlimited scenarios. Dealing directly with people requires time, resources, patience, listening, etc. When you are selling a policy, do you tell your potential customer sorry times up sign with us or leave!
