@urk

Grob only had an admin. his team had been stripped from him for a long time already. I suspect FA will also be gone soon based upon him having no direct reports (and not doing anything of significance for many years)

How many silicon design engineers are going to have to relocate to another geography?

This is why you never work in a city with 1 employer in your field.

At least there are opportunities in Austin and the valley.

It would certainly make sense to sell some of the buildings that Qualcomm owns in sorrento valley. They have so many!

However who will buy them??

They have been opening areas for extra office space and storage. I wonder if they are planning to Get rid of a building?

QGov is still extending offer to external candidates.. with this kind of layoff and hiring at the similar time frame, will this trigger a lawsuit?

5/21 severance date makes sense as RSU release date is historically 5/20. Those terminated get to keep any RSU vested on or before that date but lose any invested RSUs.

THE severance serves as the 60 days. They can let you go right away advantage long as they pay you. They choose to keep you longer to be nice:

@1wqo. Yes it happened in the past. If you are in the list, they call you and notify.

I’m on maternity leave. Will they call to let me know I’m laid off or will they wait until I return?

Matt grob’s last day is 11/May. Were there people reporting to him ?

Correct. See this is how it works -

60 day notice (or) 60 days pay and benefits in lieu of notice. If OP is correct, you go home on 5/4 and paychecks continue as if you are still employed until 5/21 and a severance of 4 wks pay, which is the minimum for an entry level emp with < 1 yr service, will meet the above WARN requirement. Benefit may continue until end of June, though are out on early May.

@SqCg9Ug-fzv you are confused. you keep your job but they ask you to go home during WARN.

Not true if it is a big layoff. Govt requirement Is 60 days notice... So you keep your job for at least 2 months once you are notified.
