Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Is it possible to switch from fulltime to contractor or consultant at QC?

You might think I'm an idiot for wanting to do this but I have very good reasons for this. In fact this is a very good strategy for someone who wants to start their own business or shift to freelancing. Does QC do 1099 or Corp to Corp or is it all W2 based?

Is it possible to switch from being married to being single ?

You might think I'm an idiot for wanting to do this but I have very good reasons for this. In fact this is a very good strategy for someone who wants to go to strip clubs, screw around with anyone and have no responsibilities.

Not only that but you’re kinda skimming the line of what is legal in employment law and what isn’t.

Big companies don’t hire 1-off engineers who surround themselves with an LLC.

I think that Qualcomm will only hire consultants from their list of approved companies. To work as a consultant, I think you would need to work for one of the larger, approved employment agencies such as Aquent, rather than as your own one-person company.

if you have your own consulting company, you will get a 1099 form from Qcom. You'll be able claim all your expenses as deductions, even miles traveled to work or the square footage of the house where you do business work.
