Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

QGov is still hiring external candidates with hiring freezes

QGov recently extend offers to external candidates while company is in hiring freezes. With potential upcoming layoff, this kind of hiring is not right. (if there is an upcoming layoff, QGov's action implies that all of the layoff employees do not have the skillset to fit their need..). That's BS..

How can we file complaint about this non sense?

Qgov hires are a bunch of former military guys that knew each other when they were active duty. The director used to be just a manager two years ago for a groups of 10 people. Doesn’t make sense

They are hiring at all levels. I’ve been approached several times by vps looking for additional dir and sr dir roles to fill spots vacated by those fired.

Doesnt it significantly shrink the pool? How much does it cost q to issue a clearance for one anyway?

QGOV went through a big layoff when sequestration (big budget cuts in the government) took place in 2013. When the corporate layoffs hit in 2015, QGOV was already as lean as it could be. QGOV is very selective now, only considering candidates that already have a security clearance, which includes internal Qualcomm people not in QGOV who happen to be cleared... they are few but they exist.

It's also worth noting QGOV didnt go through any layoffs in 2015. QGOV employees are arguably more expensive assets cause of their security clearance.

You always want to hire the best talent. The best talent might be external . if you do qualify for a job you should apply. You can always find the hiring manager through the job posting and contact him /her directly and if you are a match they will give you priority.

But QGov should at least give the chance to all upcoming layoff employees (with US citizenships).

I don't think there is hiring freeze. Look at careers page, they are hiring for all levels.

+1. I am QCOM Corp, past US Government contractor employee. Look around at badges, the only possible IOS pool would be blue badges who have a recent security clearance. Probably 5% or less of the current employees would qualify to interview for a QGOV position...

QGOV hires a much different labor force than the rest of qualcomm. If you can't qualify for a secret or TS clearance, you won't be hired by them.

I think QC will start hiring after the layoffs.

Qgov's position mostly require US citizenship and sometimes security clearance. The chinese and the indians wont qualify.
