Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

Before you eliminated my job, it may have been smart to have someone else that could do it.

I find it highly ironic that my job was eliminated and I was laid off in January, yet 2 months later I’m still getting calls from employees asking me to help them figure out answers on trying to do my job. Great business plan there CHK.

All those years of hard work and dedication so that I can sit back and help someone else do the job that I loved.

Actually the miracle is in the fact that Chesapeake is still being ran by the same clowns.

Let’s see. Same leadership. Same debt. Only thing that has changed is fewer assets and fewer employees. Yet same problems.

So yeah. It is a miracle a drop of oil is produced because it’s a miracle the doors are still open as Chesapeake

Every O&G layoff website is the same. The people that got laid off were all-star performers that were the best in the world in what they do. Only incompetent morons remain.

It must be a miracle that we can produce a single drop of oil according to these snowflakes.

The lesson here is don’t go to work for publicly held companies

DEVON IS NEXT. i have been an operator for nearly 40 years. regarding CHK, i knew Aubrey back in the early late 80's early 90 chalk days. i watched CHK gobble up companies in the 80's and 90's with impunity. i had one of your HEAD bosses, an old friend that came over from Samson tell me one time in the 90's he came back from lunch and A told them "i just bought x company for $400 million over lunch." my friend a P.E. said, "we had not even LOOKED at that company much less ran economics." that happenened more than once. Product price increases bailed the company out then as well as Wall street. Chk then proceeded to run ripshot over working interest partners, royalty owners, (remember the hundreds of millions they have had to pay in class action lawsuits) and proceeded to be one of the worst operating companies in the business for many years. i literally lost millions investing with CHK due to nothing but neglect. I lost over a million bucks on just one well with CHK because somebody "forgot" to tack the surface casing, it came apart during the vertical drill , we had to skid the rig and start over. Much of the old talent i knew jumped ship in the last 5-8 years.

I will say this CHK has tightened the belt on the operating side the past few years and i salute them for that. i wish nothing but the best for the employees and stockholders. The problem is talent flees when the ship is taking on water, and grass is much more green and profitable on the other side (Permian basin.)

Devon energy has taken CHK's place as the worst operator in the business. we have had leases with Devon operator making 200 BOPD losing money. i have a close friend there that is a top P.E. he tells me Devon is going the way of CHK. $10 bill in debt, selling off assets right and left and spending money like a drunk sailer. we have audited Devon numerous times and found MILLIONS of dollars in over charges, duplicated charges , etc. Devon is on round 2 of employee layoffs that started today. i wish those dedicated employees luck where ever they land.

Karma is a b--ch. Chk and Devon is getting it's dose of Karma now, but as oil prices head back into the $40-50 sooner than people think, it will spell a well deserved end to both.

after a month of repeated phone calls and questions from my former coworkers I stopped answering their calls then my former boss called me and said he could claw back my severance if I didn’t help him and the department. I told him to take his severance and shove it up his oss.

You know i know who you are & you freaking know me or you would not have made the hair & flirting comments. I hate it that you were let go but don't hate the player hate the game.

I get to the office act like i am working for 30, shoot the breeze with folks over coffee, then off To pick up breakfast, back at theoffice knock out 15 to 20 minutes of work (meeting if necessary) then surf Facebook & instagram. Off to Lunch with the crew (1.5 hr lunch), gym time (1 hour), shower & fix hipster hair (15minutes), quick appearance in my office, & then off to my car to smoke a j, maybe catch an afternoon meeting, then flirt with chicks till 4:45 & then I am out. See you losers tomorrow. Sorry for ya but i am riding this pony till she bucks.

Ok since you “think” you know me, let me correct you. You don’t know who I am. You see, while you are spending hours a day wasting the companies dime working out in the gym and taking your hour long breakfast and lunches every day, I was out actually making the company money. So Just keep sitting there on campus making sure your hipster hair is in place and flirting with the women while the company continues selling off its core assets and you’ll find yourself scrambling to find your life jacket while the ship is sinking. Now get back to “work”.

It is exactly the same for me.

I still don't mind helping over the phone because those guys are my friends.

But after 7 years CHK treated me like a piece of d@% sh!% on their boot.

Now my old jod is posted online.

I’m not with CHK, never have been never will. Only passing by, looking for indicators on status. You’re dialogue only confirms everything I already new about this dump. A dead corpse with sanctimonious survivors fighting over the rotting remnants. To those laid off, good luck to you. To the gloating survivors, enjoy being a bottom feeder.

I heard you were the one on your knees from your family, claiming that you thought CHK could not move forward without you & that you expected us to beg you back. Guess what we are not begging you back. You were mediocre at your job & more than slow with your paper work. Some folks thought that you were mentally slow, but I took up for you (you know who I AM & you know I had your back). Good luck my mentally challenged friend!

I never complained once, I did my job effectively and efficiently and I do get calls, texts, etc. Just because you’re still there on your corporate knees just waiting for your turn to get laid off doesn’t mean that everyone who was let go wasn’t an asset to the company.

Haha. No one is calling you. We replaced your job with two hamsters and a mole rat. They actually are getting things done and uncomplicating that mess you created. Funny thing is they do it without all the moaning and complaining.

You should absolutely be charging a consulting fee, though I'd recommend more like $500 / hour.

Why would you help at all? They decided your input wasn't worth having you as an employee, so you're going to give to them for free?

Dont answer the questions. Or charge them $200 per hour (2 hour minimum)
