In the coming weeks the Schenectady Plant and campus will be occupied by swarms of environmental agencies and environmental law enforcement personnel. An anonymous tip to the NYS DEC has opened up a full-on 3 month search of the campus and plant to make sure that everything taking place now and in the past was done in accordance with state and federal environmental law. Apparently this has been scheduled since January but they have been waiting for the ground to melt so they can start drilling and pulling core samples for testing. I am told that if the findings do not come back with good result it could be the beginning of the end for GE Power in Schenectady.

Last summer and fall, up to 9 dump trucks an hour came in the back gate with soil. Rumor has it that they needed to add a layer of uncontaiminated soil to cover all the questionable things that would come up in a core sample. There was some kind of agreement I heard, that the site had to complete this work by end of last year or face fines.
At least we won't have to endure much longer, @1zao . GE may not even be a going concern by this time next year...
No, the problem is all the evil doings including environmental disasters.... It shows no integrity at all..... the stock buy backs while underfunding pensions and paying the top 5 millions... To programs that corner the intelligent at the expense of the threatened, to high insurance premiums and very average pay.... To vacation through permission (permissive oops so sorry) .... No evaluations means lower litigation risks against the older employees (touch points ...LOL) This ALL shows the entire world no integrity.... Something they shout but do not do..... This includes the environmental disasters....that's the point or points...it shows a pattern...and not a very good one...oh wait forgot... No more above and beyond awards....but impact points...oh my...I feel sad for those good people still left there to endure....

Not much of a liar but have worked around enough of the blue badgers that are nothing but liars .... As well as some very good people that would tell the truth no matter what the cost.... Been there.... Glad I'm out! Pot shake up ... No .... It went through the court systems they were fined and ordered to clean it up ....it is on the records .. I don't need to stir the pot ... I think the stock numbers and cash flow speak volumes...

No, i don't recall seeing this on NBC news over the past 15 years. Wonder why? Anyway, i asked of specifics, not generic core sampling info. So they've been here 15 years and now an announcement is made of an upcoming 'probe' from several agencies? Thanks for the Hudson info, I'll read up on it next saturday while I'm on Sat OT
