Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Time to evaluate what is going on

OK, so L&D is going down by 80%, and they are the ones who facilitate training for all employees (think high churn in the hubs), which appears to be the same % Ad services is going down. Proximity is going down +/- 38%, and they're the ones directly helping the customer.

If your department hasn't started yet, and doesn't directly help the customer, what % in cuts do you think will happen to your area?

One possible scenario I can see is outsourcing. You don't need as many Proximity reps due to the increased use of Independent adjusters. You don't need L&D to train Independent Adjusters as that is the responsibility of the providing company. Ad services isn't needed as much since we don't own the buildings. Ask yourself, can my job be outsourced, or automated? This is the time to answer honestly because they are multiple blunders (I mean moves) ahead of you. So, is your area totally safe because it is needed, or will the cuts come to you too, when how bad can they cut???

You all seem to miss the fact that they create the courses and deliver training for or agents and their 75,000 employees. There will be no more boot camps or in person training. Our sales force that sells the products which keeps us all employed will have fewer learning opportunities. With fewer folks in L&D the new self study material and info on ABS will take longer to be developed and printed. The impact to our sales force will be huge. They just don’t know it yet.

@Sz15Cc7-5jfz - op here. I am in no way belittling L&D. I am on the other hand, very pissed off that they and a lot of proximity people are being thrown away when they are the most important asset the company has. My Proximity trainer, and the other trainers that I know are the most valuable people in the company. The things that they know and teach on a daily basis have helped drive down the time to write estimates & improve customer service. It is scary as hell that they can be tossed aside, because that tells me that the company has no long term plan for a field presence. Why have trainers if you aren't going to have people to train. It s---s but that is the current thinking at the top.

I love my L & D friends - I’m angry anyone would belittle them and make light of this impact. They came from Business backgrounds- can’t we help them through this and give them roles to drive the changes needed. Or offer different salaries. Anything but just saying we don’t need you when they were doing what we assigned them to do

Actually the Bank did profit last year. It wasn't much, but they were not operating at a loss. And hey, they did it without any investment in tech or people. Kind of amazing, really. Think what the Bank could accomplish with some resources

I don't know this for a fact, but I believe Bank will cut 80% as well. It has been unprofitable for a long time and is a sinking ship. SF = Titanic.
