Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Unbelievable.!

attended an internal call to hear delivery steps/sample of analytic cloud setup/provisioning..

in summary,. after 10s of support SR filed by consultants, there is no

guarantee things will work during the coming months as this was only 'beta' version.!

so many '..it could change..we don't know yet, etc..etc..'..

and we are competing with who?

Analytics cloud is totally useless. We have squandered away our lead in this space in last 5 years. No wonder Gartner ranks us as a laggard overall.

The ALL CAPS poster is off his meds. He's just trying to stir the pot.

Oracle is NOT making new money on existing products and services. The FAUX ORACLE CLOUD is like the great and powerful OZ in The Wizard of OZ. A fake little man behind a curtain. The oracle cloud is that fake or worse. No curtain.

Oracle are acquiring companies to make it look like they are making new money. But the money they make is coming from innovations and blood, sweat and tears of those they acquire.

Oracle is definitely LOSING market share and market dollars on every renewal. Even AT&T and Bank of America and all the other large enterprise accounts.

Without NetSuite and any other acquisition, Oracle is double digit negative declining sales. No question.

That's just one PaaS product. Dev was told to move it to Bare Metal. So let's just install or old products in VMs. Create management scripts and some customer interfaces and her you go PaaS. I met with all the Cloud PaaS PMs in December. All in the process of rebuilding their PaaS products as VM deployments to OCI. Amazingly complex implementations. PaaS products dependent on PaaS and IaaS products. Multiple layers products being deployed. Yes it is automated but complex as hell and requiring sometimes a dozen compute instances. Frankenstein Cloud. I retired after seeing what they are rolling out. Was planning to stick around until summer. But I was being asked to train the SCs on the next generation mess. Could not stomach passing this crap off as Cloud.

I'm sure the top management is putting pressure on people to release stuff early. if that's the case, then I expect there will be no push-back from the lower management. If you tell them as a developer that the software is not ready, they will ignore you and if things fail, they will blame you also. You'll never hear that part, that's just what the manager above you will be telling the manager above him.

"Who me? it wasn't MY decision to release anything, the developers told me it was working. The developers I have are terrible, they don't know what they're doing..... we should just lay them off and replace them."

All managers in development manage up only.... pretend until it's too late... then blame whoever they need to. It's the Oracle software development process..... pretend, pretend, pretend.... blame, blame, blame.

"Fake it till you make it" does not work for cloud, as Oracle is starting to realize. Coming soon: panic in the C suite.

This is not complicated - there is no oracle cloud! I repeat, oracle cloud does not exist! All that exists is a marketing PP deck and the ability to sell cloud credits. Everything else is pure fiction at 80% margin.
