Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Next round of layoffs

Next round of lay offs coming soon ! Allstate is centralizing and moving everything to “ Cal Desert “ aka Arizona. I give it another month or so, before our next phone call lay off.

I know there has been a lot of speculation about this, but has there been any actual concrete info on this?

“Will this month be it ? “ ........what is “it” ?

Whatever happens isn’t going to be a Big Bang, or one conference call. Do you think they’re going to transition +15,000 jobs over night with one conference call ???

Use your brain. This will be a gradual process that will occur over years.

Yes, those that grabbed the “Bednar cash”, and have their hands out in current litigation, will have no one to blame but themselves when the California curtain comes down. I feel bad for those that didn’t take advantage, and will have to bear the consequences.

Not a ”management lurker”, but a long term employee (outside California) with significant interest (stock) in the company, and given advances in technology and remote workforce capabilities, I’m surprised we still operate offices in California. Most other non-California domiciled company’s handle the back office/Claims out of California.

Unfortunately, Kali is very expensive in just about every respect. As much as I don't want to see anyone lose their job and as painful as it is to say I understand why an employer would not want to set up shop there if they did not have to. I also understand the wage and hour issues the company has to face because, why pay your employees for what they actually do if you don't have to. Ok mgnt lurkers...descend.

Yes, almost 2,000 company’s in the last 8 years, including Toyota and Occidental Peteoleum. Nestle recently announced they’re pulling out. As employees, research California labor/ wage and hour litigation history you’ll understand what’s coming and why.

When the day comes, California employees need to look to those that took the money in the last big class litigation (Bednar) as well as those pursuing big dollars in pending litigation. Company’s like Allstate that’s pay out hundreds of millions of dollars in these lawsuits can’t be faulted for looking across state lines. California has created an untenable employer environment. Ultimately, the board and shareholders will demand a change, meaning minimize our legal/$ exposure in California.

Don't be surprised at the next kick off meeting when the new banners and pad of postie notes give away tout the great Bob Seger (who will be entertainment at the DPA award dinner in San Diego)

"I feel like just another

Spoke in a great big wheel

Like a tiny blade of grass

In a great big field."

Ya know to kick off the great new Hub.

If I worked in California I’d be looking at lease termination dates for my office and stocking up on sun screen.

Nothing concrete, but in the last all employee broadcast a few weeks ago Tom Wilson specifically said Phoenix will be a "hub." I think it will more than a month... Maybe in 1-2 years? Somebody knows the master plan...
