So, apparently State Farm placed armed guards at its major hubs to conform to industry standards, not out of fear of retribution for layoffs that have been happening non stop for the past several months.
I'm just confused, why exactly did the company take this long to conform to industry standards they suddenly care so much about?

G4S has implemented a new armed, Behavior Detection Officer Program and increased the amount of security personnel as a direct result of the layoffs. I know this for a fact.

Armed guards should be welcomed for everyone’s safety. This is a crazy world full of fruits and nuts!
I work in a hub and havent seen armed guards.....
By the time we get around to industry standard on anything it's already 3 revs behind and already out of date... that ok because the "industry" is often wrong.
It's also a sign of the times, but after reading some of the threads on this page, I will be happy to see armed guards and more security.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out.
It has to be b/c of layoffs. No other reason can justify it.
