Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

This is our reality now

Yesterday I had to tell a customer that it would be about 15 minutes befor I could help him. I explained that I had 3 customers ahead of him. Two orders of paint to make and to cut 6 blinds. He said he was not going to wait, he wanted to buy a fridge. He walked out the store. I went to cut the blinds customer had left. That's why Lowes is losing money. I was covering for departments.

This is exactly what is bringing us down. Sometimes I'm expected to be at three places at once. Since cloning of people is still science fiction, I can't do it. And because I can't, we lose more customers each day than I can count.

The worst part, instead of adding people, there is talk more will be cut. Seriously?!?!!?

The only thing that matters now at my store is getting the call boxes shut off in under a minute. We have managers who do nothing but walk the store turning off call boxes and paging and calling associates. Of course we get the "team work makes the dream work" speech all the time at the morning meetings.

Remember when they eliminated ASM positions and department managers? We were told it was so there would be more "customer facing associates." I call bull crap on that! We haven's seen any new associates except for seasonal hires, many of the positions vacated when an employee leaves aren't being filled.

I completely agree. the really sad part is that Lowe's has plenty of money and is actually making it hand over fist. However, it's being used for executive stock buybacks and bonuses to the higher ups all at the cost of some amazing store level talent that's looking elsewhere. I just can't take off the call buttons and b--chy instant gratification customers any more. Our SM added more buttons all in the name of supposedly enhancing customer service. However, he didn't add bodies to cover them all. When you have one skilled associate covering multiple departments on a SATURDAY it's a serious problem. The staffing/scheduling is completely broken and no one really cares in upper management. If I was an SM i most likely couldn't sleep at night thinking about the broken staffing levels. Customer's aren't getting the attention they need or demand and there simply isn't enough bodies. Internally, Lowe's at the store level is in a really sad state and the employee morale is at an all time low. it's really sad to see things falling apart internally.

Lowe's looses a ton of money cause no one cares. We know we will get a paycheck and there is NOTHING they can do. No is believing the kool aid they spew any more. We laugh every time they speak.

It’s why I quit, my name is on my vest. I didn’t want some upset customer to write a yelp

Review. Then have another employer do a background check and think I was bad with customers.

Thankfully, I got out unscathed.
