Hearing that in order to reduce the sales force, the plan is to simply give field reps %50 credit for non-cloud sales, while keeping their quota the same as last year. Sales leadership figures its cheaper to have the reps quit than to pay severance.

@T0N4uPH-dvk: not true what you say for Switzerland. There are still 2 server & storage sales and a few presales. The others were moved to the tech group with the engineered systems. And some was leaving the company by their own. Not 1 has been wiped off. But clearly, the system group is much smaller now but still there. And yes, OD is taking care of the small and mid market. Only named account has a sales rep for systems in Switzerland.
Not fake news.
Cloud reps for true cloud SaaS make zero on on premise renewals and true cloud comp has been cut to 1/25th of what it was. Your comp plan at oracle isn’t worth the paper it’s written on.
Fake news
Um, this has existed for two years in field cloud sales. Reps in that group only make like a 2% spif on on-prem sales.
a bit off-topic (apologies ) BUT the European Redwood Shores is actually TVP in Rreading , England
This model will work only the products and services where there is a pull from the market, it will not work for business apps which is a push products and services. History repeats, SFDC tried and it failed few years back. This is a personal game of EMEA leader and it may work for 5% of world market and not for 95% market. All the best!
have heard same rumor, even if without 50% figure, just a generic "very high"
in the meanwhile, where possible Oracle is having a much more quick'n'dirty approach, no foil just club.
like in Switzerland, where ALL the system team has been wiped off. yes, correct, there is no more any system field sales reps in Switzerland, customer who would like to buy anything in the system portfolio must give a phone call to an OD sales rep in Malaga.
Switzerland is where Oracle President LdG is based, i.e. EMEA HQ's, something like an european Redwood Shores.
that's the model Oracle will rollout in the next couple of years everywhere, OD will sell servers on the phone, just very few field sales remaining only for very few specific account. good luck with that, I'm in touch daily with enterprise customers and I don't think it will never succeed, but you know, I'm not a genius like our fantastic top managers.
