Any Co's getting Unemployment?

Curious if any Co's out there who accepted severance and won unemployment? Really, Severance helps the the $950 month Cobra, 40+unpaid days of PTO I earned and only got paid for 5 (which I carried over from last year) yet there are still the same bills to pay. Being almost 60 is making it hard to obtain employment.

Hey on the cobra you can go down a plan which doesnt change it much and it was only around 400 a month. You may want to call and ask. I didnt see a reason to pay the 900 when the other plan is almost the same.

Every state is different. In some, once you're off the payroll you are eligible for unemployment. In others, like Maryland, lump sum severance makes you ineligible for a calculated number of weeks (months).

I have collected every week so far, waited 4 wks to send in packet so I could keep drawing. They told me I could draw every week except when I get severance. And it will only effect me that one week.

Cobra is very expensive. Check online. Many former temp insurance agencies are picking up the slack. They are now legally allowed to extend their coverage from 3 months to 'as needed'.

I chose not to go with cobra and contacted an insurance agent. There are other options out there.

I tried and was denied. They said I couldn't collect until my severence weeks of pay ended. Even though we get it in a lump sum.
