Oracle shares drop after JP Morgan downgrades on lost business to Amazon and Microsoft

I was laid off last year. I should have started my job search 3 years ago. It was my mistake. Don't make the same mistake. Start looking today. I moved to another large tech company and very happy. They really do care about their employee here. Not just the new, low paid college grads.

I don't think SC and MH can work their vodoo finance magic any longer. Wall Street has their number now!!

I would expect other analysts to run similar channel checks and come up with similar results. Now that one of them has decided that the numbers are bad enough to take this step, there is little to hold back others.

Earnings call ought to be interesting next week.

"It's much easier to work with Amazon and MS."

Easier is relative. Customers are fed up and now have options, so they are planning their exit from Oracle. However, Microsoft's licensing practices aren't that much better and CIOs are growing tired of them too. AWS isn't exactly "easy" either.

Regardless, Oracle went too far, pissed off its customers and its employees, so now the karma train is coming. Even so, they'll be able to survive based on their SaaS business (especially NetSuite) for now. It won't support their current valuation, but it will support big compensation packages for those at the top.

Oracle's "specific metrics in our large-scale CIO survey have arced over into negative territory, which makes us uncomfortable because the results of our CIO surveys over the years have been highly predictive," analyst Mark Murphy said in a note to clients Thursday. "Oracle spending intentions have only looked lukewarm in our CIO survey work in the recent past, but the data takes a dive in the current survey. … In our discussions, CIOs have clarified that they are migrating Oracle databases to Microsoft SQL Server, Amazon databases and PostgreSQL."

It had to happen. Imagine being a CIO and suddenly an audit occurs and suddenly you are responsible for paying Oracle several million dollars.... there goes your job. I can't think of a worse thing to do to a CIO.

They will direct their IT departments away from Oracle as fast as they possibly can.

Duh! LE! DUH!!!!

If you want some islands or airplanes or cars on the cheap, get ready, with the share price crashing and collateral calls coming in, LE will be liquidating. He’s more leverage than Lehman in 2008. Sweet!

But wait! How is it possible that CIO's are losing faith in a customer whose main face is now college grads? They don't feel that key spend should go to a company that wants to support and architect on the cheap? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE??!!

Thank you!! Where is the fake news crowd? This information comes from Wall Street and analysts, not the pissed off former Oracle employees. That's the fake news with cloud washing and the quarterly financial and accounting gimmacks. It may work in the short run........but it was catch up sooner or later. Good luck with the earnings call!!

Turn out the lights....the party is over. Now, we know we all of the attention has been on the 'autonomous database' lately. They really are starting to fell very threatened at the very core...the database itself. They should have treated customers better.

It's all over with. Waiting for the earnings call next week. There's nowhere to go but down.

Dev management is overrun with sociopathic freaks scamming everyone for territory. That will intensify as the ship goes down. Incompetence is rampant. Country clubber sociopaths are on every corner.

Get out and get a job with a competitor. You can make the ship go down faster. It will be more merciful in the end.

That's true. I just think customers don't want to deal with Oracle anymore. It's much easier to work with Amazon and MS. In addition, their cloud works.
