Oracle announces its figures for FY18 this afternoon after the market closes. Until then, they're in a quiet period. Announcing or having big layoffs would telegraph the results, so they're not about to do that.
Watch the stock price in the aftermarket, at 4:10 ET this afternoon. If you see red, the amount of layoffs depends on how much red, and they will likely happen before the July 4 holiday. If you see green, there probably won't be many layoffs.
This board is not for sure on anything. Any intelligent person would know that. People here are just trying to help each other out with whatever they may know. So, of course, very little is for sure.
It's just a way to spread information across the company in a more efficient way. Some of it is very well informed and RIFs have been predicted here. Other information is more like gossip in the office.
It is what it is. Don't expect perfection from office gossip.
It sure didn't stop the big Aug 31 layoff last year.
The predictions made on this blog remind me of the end of the world predictions: as soon as the prediction is proven false, they immediately make another one. and say "this time we got it right, trust us."
