Thread regarding Arris Group Inc. layoffs

Lay. Offs start in USA video BU

Yes lay offs have started in USA video business unit and are expected to hit Europe shortly. Followed by lay offs in the services decision. Arris is trying to increase its share price by firing engineers again. Sadly they are already cut to the bone, pity they don’t concentrate on the over bloated sales teams who can only sell set tops at a loss.

Too much greed at the top, trying to keep their bonuses intact. No vision where to lead the company, all I have heard in the last year was fluff.

And only one canadian customer for its satellite business. The whole sales team should have been fired first.

They're just chipping away at numbers and morale. No strategy, no ideas, no grand plan, just clueless.

Very quiet today. Guess they are waiting a day or two for settop group reorg.

Wasn't Baldock from Moto, old boys deserted him? He was deadwood and never knew what he did anyways.

Anyone have the numbers yet? How many layoffs in each building?

Ruckus in Sunnyvale (3 buildings)?

Arris in Santa Clara (both buildings)?

Also is Alameda closing the doors today?

Not all of us are as familiar with the org chart (who can keep up)....who led the Advanced Research and Advanced Technology teams?

Anyone think ARRIS management is cleaning house and setting the place up for a sale? Or is this just the usual day-to-day "synergy" stuff to offload older workers?

Every year layoffs, every year no explanation as to the rationale. The way you find out if someone has gone is when you try to contact them. Just pathetic yet the VPs and above all claim to be leaders

@TPddiyq-ieuh: Anyone over 50, not necessarily close to retirement or retirement age, has got cross-hairs on their back for Arris HR. If you are a technical person and >=50, then make sure your resume is ready - what you have done so far or doing now has zero effect. if you are part of the old-boys group in management, you are good.

I was wondering if Baldock was fleeing the ship or if he was whacked.

I would also like to see a list of those laid off (impossible, I know). I know ARRIS has an older workforce, but it certainly seems like layoffs impact those in the retirement/close to retirement age bracket. Guessing some youngins were included to avoid age discrimination lawsuits.

It's legit. I try to keep things positive, but the layoffs are becoming more frequent and quieter. Seems like every week I learn that someone else I worked with is suddenly gone. It does not feel good and ARRIS management making/delivering the info seems like Teflon...it just bounces off them as they move on and wait for the next wave.

@TPddiyq-gcpe Why do you think it is not legit? Everyone knows the layoffs are happening steadily for every year now .... Unless you decide to stick your head in the sand like an ostrich, it is pretty obvious.. Is Arris sinking? Well - its not healthy, lets put it that way

How legit is this info? Gosh. This ship is sinking.

Yes San Diego, location got hit Friday-Jun29-2018 was the last day. Given 1 week notice. Site manager(SVP) gone. Another SVP and few more in Advanced Technology group guys gone. Entire Advanced Research team gone, including the VP. Next CPE team in queue for July-15.

ARRIS junk management destroyed Horsham? Hardly! Crappy Motorola management and the "we are the center of the universe" view held by those in Horsham certainly has not helped.

But when will Horsham site close? Pretty empty right now - just remember the glory days when it was full of activity? Arris junk mgmt destroyed it.,

San Diego site was affected badly, site manager is gone and other advanced tech guys. Santa Clara office affected too. Rumors from Horsham say three more years to shutdown the entire SD site.

@TPddiyq-8nfi: Wow ! truly scathing report on Arris future. Essentially, end of Arris is being predicted. And the only thing that the old boys tight-kint association of management is to make sure they keep their jobs while letting go of hapless engineers, although it is clear that they had NO vision! But they are being paid mightily to have a vision - sigh! The new CEO rakes in millions like the old one who retired happily buying Motorola/Pace for junk!

With you on the sales comment. Too many, and too few who know how to sell. Doesn't seem like ARRIS management has done much to build B2B relationships to help on that front.

Even before the PACE acquisition, ARRIS had too many modem/set top products fighting each other for revenue...which continued to trend down. Sadly, there will still be good old boys kept while some really good people are "synergized". I know I'd like to make some recommendations :)

Really sad... I presume Horsham/Lowell are again affected although the number of engineers left is minimal. Managers are desperate to keep their buddies in, but no one left to defend the lowly engineers.
