At my location we were told that a training class for new hires was canceled. We were also told that our current employment number which was below full employment the day before is now considered to be over staffed by 20. Also our attendance policy was changed. With the changes 10 people were let go in 2 weeks. So, is this how the layoffs start?

Allstate is no longer a good company to work for. Quit if you can, do not join if you don't have to, survive if you need to,
So, you didn’t lose your job, or any pay ? You were simply asked to “handle different states”, while never leaving the same desk ? How do you handle the hardship ? You’ve been dealt a terrible hand. What a horrible company.
Yes that is exactly how it started with us at the Dallas MCO we were not given notice months in advance but about a week. Things happened so fast we didn’t even have time to think. Yes we still have jobs as customer service reps but we were thrown into them. Working on states we know nothing about and were not trained to work. They handed us a packet and said everything you need to know should be in here. We get cussed out and hung up on allllll day due to India not doing their work however that’s where all of our work went. I will be resigning this month Allstate has lost all my respect.
What was the function of the 10 people affected ?
Core , Auto or Casualty?
2 weeks notice? Really thats not good!! Total Loss processors in my state were given 3/4 mos notice
I work in claims. Not in California
Do you work in claims? What dept do you work in ?
Are you in California?
Unless you are in California, it may simply be an adjustment to the staffing plan which occurs every couple of months depending on policy growth and claim count trends. Staffing plans go up, and they go down, and it usually doesn’t result in “layoff’s”, but rather non replacement of employees that leave, or s happens all the time. Always has.
If you work in California, another story.
