These are people who could get jobs anywhere.
Is this how Qualcomm is going to reach the 1 billion spending reduction?

Bay area has higher pay, but living is way much higher. So, living quality may not be higher in Bay area.
Of course we are leaving, the only engineering going on around here is financial engineering. And given the Finance leadership that not saying much.
Good guys are drifting away. Natural result of the work environment and lack of project direction and goals.
+1 for holy cat.
Holy cow is a sensitive term at Qcom.
qualcomm stole $1B business of IOT. Now they are regretting because they had to cut cost $1B and lose nxp deal- poor Q. Looks like stealing is in Qualcomm's culture. "Q, didnt your grandma teach you NOT to STEAL?"
Seeing the same engineer bleed in my old group. Pretty soon you’ll have a 1:1 manager:employee ratio.
I wonder what the interns think of it all. Not a great sales point.
holy cat or holy cow? vote please.
+1 for holy cow.
@TSf12TD-sab With the insane cost of living (real estate, food, gas, EVERYTHING) and congestion in the Bay Area, it's not worth it to live and work there.
There seem to be a lot more opportunities in town as well, although most high pay ones are still in bay area
The future for Qualcomm is bleak. The future is growing obsolescence......with the end being whatever viable patents are left will be sold to Intel or Nvidia at auction.
The end of Qualcomm is much closer than many in leadership will have you believe. They are packing their golden parachutes preparing for last trip to Hawaii compound
QCOM engineers have much better chances of getting jobs outside of QCOM compared to managers who are considered to be just good at politics.
Are those offers in town, or in Silicon Valley?
What level of engineering?
And who exactly got "some deal" for staying?
(All of these questions are asked without irony, by the way.)
Yepe, easily got a better offer, thanks for the severance SM.
Yup. You got it. Those they want to keep already got some deal.
