Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Spin-offs and Pension

Does GE Corp retain the pension liability for spin-off employees ? What constitutes GE Corp ? I left with the Appliance spin-off and am curious what entity has the pension liabilities.

not to worry, Immelt, Flannery and the rest will get their pensions. You on the other hand will be lucky to get 80% of what you thought

Your pension freezes what you have is what you have. At age 60 can elect to start to collect, that is if GE is still in existence.

Contact the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. There was a US Federal Law passed saying all these things need to be filed with the agency.

Don’t HR advise you on things like this? Shouldn’t your management manage the business by keeping you informed. This so-called esteemed and respected management training you get is a bunch of baloney and bs. No wonder you’ve dropped out of the Dow and heading over the cliff.

That is a really good question and applies to a lot of former GE businesses. There is a lot not explained.
