you are correct about the rottenness of TX politics statewide but TX has a bit of split personality going on just like the rest of the country. The major metro areas in TX: Dallas, Houston and Austin are deep blue. The rest of the small-town and rural TX is deep Red. That's the same process (a fractal ?) happening on the national scale. Any non-American abroad would be pretty inaccurate to make a monolithic judgment about the cultural and social patterns of the entire USA just by basing it on Trump or House Republicans. That's the same case with TX.

nonsense. Texas is a fine place to live, prosper and raise the family.

Most people in texas are good but there are the crazy just like California.

@xhb true, but in TX the state is run by these maga morans. In TX you have dipshits who show up at a school shooting to display his open carry “right”.

Like I said, TX republicans are a special kind of stoopid.

go to the place where you can care for your family and live and work with dignity. The place is your choice. Move forward with confidence and leave Qualcomm in the rear view mirror. Go to where you are needed and wanted.

Pretty sure California has its fair share of inbred morons too a bit out from the cities.

Don’t throw stones in your glass house.

While Austin is nice, being in texas with “moran” racist maga fake bible thumpers really kills the prospect of living there.

Republicans in TX are a special kind of stupid (not the regular kind of stupid)

The person that said Austin is mini-San Francisco is a delusional moron.

Also, being near Dallas and Houston are bugs, not features.

Get out and see more of the world. Austin doesn’t come anywhere close to many other places for quality of life - assuming you can afford it.

If you are skilled in tech the affordability shouldn’t be an issue.

2bld and 2rt:

Yes you are right about San Diego and Austin comparison. Austin is most definitely not in the same league with any major metro areas on West Coast or East Coast in general.

If there is job security and money is not the issue then there are only three or four places worth it in this country imo: NYC, Chicago, San Francisco and Boston. I personally don't like San Diego but that's just a personal bias.

There’s no arguing with people in Austin’s reality distortion field.

It’s an ok town but has major downsides mentioned by cyz - he’s spot on.

If you are above a certain income, San Diego’s quality of life is MUCH better.

Anybody that says positive things about Austin is moving out of Austin and has a house for sale. Already had a 100 degree day and it's only May. Look up cedar fever it's a Austin thing. During the winter polen is so bad it looks like fog during the day. Traffic s---s and gets worse every year. Downtown is cool but traffic s---s and good luck finding a parking space. The new signs in Austin. -- Welcome to Austin. Please don't move here. I hear Dallas is nice.

just to tamper with cyz's post:

-- Austin weather is really really bad but for July and August (100degrees+). Other than those two months it is NOT bad. You get to have four seasons. We had 40 degree weather this year until early April.

-- Austin has allergies and bugs. But allergies get better over time as in within two years time-frame.

-- Austin has bad traffic but it is comparable to rush-hour traffic in San Diego.

-- Austin real-estate is very hot right now but not comparable to Cali. There is no state tax by the way.

-- Austin is mini San Francisco as long as you stay within the city limits in terms of diversity and culture. It has one of the best universities in the country

-- Austin has at least 10 different types of things to do on any given weekend from Sports to food to movies to music.

-- You are 2.5 hours from Dallas metro area and 3 hours from Houston so you aren't necessarily in the middle of nowhere.

-- There is a small wine country and Bay Area style landscape in the west of Austin called Hill Country.

Who said Austin has great weather?

Austin is an oppressive swamp pit for a good 6 months out of the year where the temps break 100 for 3-4 months straight and it only cools down to 85 in the dead of night. Also, you’ll love the rampant allergies and Texas sized bugs, mosquitoes, spiders and scorpions.

You’re also surrounded by pure Texas for 5 hours in every direction. It’s incredibly boring and uncultured.

Cheap houses though...if you can stand the satanic heat, horrible traffic, high property taxes, high insurance, high utility bills and having to call yourself a Texan.

Austin sounds wonderful! In fact any place in Texas is better than liberal sh*thole California....

I mean people shooting up drugs everywhere and p--ping in the streets? That doesn't sound like making America great to me. Am I missing something? rampant crime, homelessness, drugs and public defecation? I thought Trump was going to save California but it's just getting worse. Very sad.
