Chip sizes so large compared to Mediatek. I blame SOC management for not driving efficiency, its hitting our bottom line.

Very simple answer the SVP of SOC doesn't care. Have seen no action.

MTK chips are trash
Simply because our SoCs are more powerful. By the way, Apple chips are twice the size of Q chips, but only marginally better in real world performance, if at all.
SOC just paid off all the good engineers.
Engineers are building fences, playing safe, pointing fingers, and hiding behind the scene. Schedule and resources has been abused as excuses.
Also what do you expect from contractors and outsourced parties?

Its the result of years make work projects. Everyone need to show they innovated something instead focus on what customer and market needs.
Its also resulted of years blindly geoshift caused lack of ownership of work , most folks just want to get their issue passed on instead of resolve it properly.
The list goes on.....
This definitely reminds me of Nokia, Motorola, HP.... They failed to realisze the need to transform from their core competency and when they do, they paniced with faulty strategy and comfort zone (like stuck with Symbian, lack of ecosystem, lack of differentiation , buying NXP ...)
